About JAJ

Jewelry Artists of Japan
The community for young jewelry creators

Japan has been traditionally blessed with creators full of delicate and artistic skills and inspiration, such as metalworkers and ornament artisans.

Introduction Japan has been traditionally blessed with creators full of delicate and artistic skills and inspiration, such as metalworkers and ornament artisans.

“Let’s take over and innovative this unique culture for things that are needed in the society, based on the Japanese identity.” This was the motif of our movement when it was started in 2012 by Akiko Yonei of Shinko studio. It is a community where people who are involved in jewelry making such as jewelry artists, craftspeople, designers, producers, sellers and other stakeholders come together to support young jewelry artists. As we encourage new talents, we want to initiate a new experiment to make jewelries more approachable for producers, manufacturers, sellers and eventually, wearers.

Currently, we organize study groups for young jewelry artists and seminars for people from various fields. Our clients include Art University or college students and graduates studying jewelries, bidding jewelry artists, craftspeople and different kinds of people who want to support them. Members can interact on our Facebook group. We also publish information on e-mails and JAJ newsletters.

We do not have membership fees as of now. While our external seminars require some participation fees, smaller study groups for young people are all free of charge, thanks to the generosity of our lecturers.
